Proverbs 16:31

March 20, 2012

Gray hair is a crown of splendor;

it is attained by a righteous life.

—Proverbs 16:31

Life App

When the gray hair comes, don’t try to hide it. It’s a gift from God.

Food for Thought

I’m on the other side of life now. My hair is just about all gray. I haven’t tried to color it, although I definitely wear it shorter now. I’m grateful for my gray. I’m grateful that I’ve lived this long. It’s a reminder—every time I look in the mirror—that God has taught me much and that there is still much to learn about him.

Friend, don’t despise the gray. Don’t despise the aches and pains that accompany getting older. Don’t hate that your body doesn’t work the way it used to. With every step we take toward growing old, we take another step toward eternity with the Father and with his Son who saves us.

Next Steps

Father, thank you for letting me live this long. Thank you for letting my wife live this long with me. Thank you for letting me see my children enter adulthood. I don’t know what you have left for me in this life, but I pray that I will serve you with all my heart and with whatever strength that is left in me. May I finish well. May I see your face soon enough on the other side of eternity. Amen.
